Sven Mislintat is keeping tabs on Ousmane Dembele in the hope of a loan move this summer, according to reports in the 21-year-old’s home country.

French outlet L’Equipe report that Arsenal are ‘ready to pounce’ if there’s any chance the winger might leave Barcelona in the current window. Sven Mislintat is apparently in constant contact with the youngster, to try and figure out if a move to London would tempt him.

Barcelona obviously won’t be keen to let a £135.5m player (with add-ons) leave so soon, especially not for a cheap price. However, the reports suggest they might be willing to let him go on loan for a season.

This furthers the rumours earlier this week coming from the English media that a loan move could be a possibility. As we pointed out at the time, if Barcelona were going to loan Dembele anywhere, Arsenal would surely be high up the list.

The clubs have a connection at the top through Raul Sanllehi, who currently runs negotiations for the Gunners after joining from Barca. Then there’s the obvious connection between Dembele himself and Mislintat, through their time in Dortmund.

Arsenal would probably be able to offer the winger a lot of game time, since they lack natural wide players. They also play a similar style of football to the La Liga champions.

It’s still a massive long shot, but we’ll just have to wait and see if there’s anything in it.
