Santi Cazorla continues to train alone at Villarreal as the midfielder attempts to prove his fitness ahead of the new season.

Resealed by Arsenal recently, at the end of his contract, fans had held out a slim hope that the Spaniard would be offered a new deal at the club after his appearance on the pitch before the Atletico Madrid first leg.

But the club took the decision to let him leave, not willing to risk a squad place on a player who could not guarantee his ability to remain fit.

Posting on his Twitter account, Santi looks sharp but the sad fact is his injury needs to withstand the rigours of top football and hard challenges and all evidence points to this being a problem for him.

If ever a player deserves the chance to play again, it is Santi Cazorla, but despite looking close to a return in this video, he is probably still some distance from being able to play actual football.
