Julio Pleguezuelo is set to return from his tear in the abductor muscle this weekend, with all the signs pointing to a start for the centre-back on loan at Gimnastic.

Friday’s Sport reports that Pleguezuelo has already made his return to normal training this week, so he’s available for selection again from now on. They expect a return this weekend, as Gimnastic face Osasuna.

Gimnastic lost three of the six games they played in Pleguezuelo’s absence, and they’re in a tricky situation at this point. They sit 17th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone with five games to go.

As well as that, they have to play league leaders Rayo Vallecano and third placed Huesca before the end of the season.

What they’ll therefore hope is that Pleguezuelo comes back on top of his game and helps them put together some clean sheets. Especially as striker Alvaro Vazquez picked up a red card in their last game, so their attacking threat will be lessened until his return.

Fingers crossed the 21-year-old Arsenal loanee puts in some performances to prove his value before he rejoins his parent club.
