Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, Lucas Perez’s agent, suggests the player would be more than happy to move to Lazio this summer, but nothing is certain just yet.
Speaking this week, Lovelle was generally tight-lipped on Perez’s future. He’d only say that the striker has a contract with Arsenal, and that they haven’t indicated they want to let him go so far.
“What will happen? Lucas has a two-year contract with Arsenal, for now only this can be answered,” he said. “The club has never put him on the market, it was the player who decided to move at the end of the last summer market. He was sorry to be on the bench, not to be called into the action.”
“First we will know Arsenal’s plans, it is still too early to know what will happen.”
In recent weeks, Lazio have reportedly asked about Perez’s availability, just as they did last summer. Previous comments from the forward’s agent suggest this is a strong possibility, particularly as it would fulfil the 29-year-old’s ‘dream’ to play with former teammate Luis Alberto.
“Rome is a great city,” Lovelle admitted. “Lazio is a great club and anyone would be happy to defend its colors.
“Luis Alberto is a great friend of Lucas, in Deportivo they understood each other beautifully. One of his dreams is to come back to play with Luis.”
Last season Perez had a mixed time on loan to Deportivo. He scored nine goals and provided eight assists, which isn’t a bad record for a forward in a relegation side. However, it did involve a goal drought lasting almost five months.
Whilst he didn’t always get the chances he wanted in front of goal, Lucas had no trouble creating them for other people. In fact, only Lionel Messi made more chances in La Liga in 2017/18.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette probably wouldn’t mind having someone like that alongside them. We’ll see what Unai Emery makes of the player.
