Arsenal are one of four English clubs to contact Napoli midfielder Jorginho’s agent over the possibility of a transfer this summer, according to the agent himself.

Joao Santos, the 26-year-old’s representative, insisted he hasn’t had any contact from his client’s current club Napoli just yet. So a deal can’t be too close to completion at this stage. However, he says he has heard from a number of English clubs directly.

“I’m in Brazil, nobody called me from Naples, but English teams have called me, Liverpool, Manchester City, but also Arsenal and Chelsea,” he revealed.

The Mirror write that the Napoli man also has interest in him from Manchester United, but they say the player could decide to turn down other clubs to have the opportunity to be a regular starter at Arsenal.

It would be a bit of a backwards step for Jorginho to go somewhere he isn’t in the starting line-up. He made 38 appearances for his current club this season, in a team fighting right at the top of Serie A. At 26 years old, he should really aim to stay on the pitch as much as possible, to get the best out of his peak years.

The allure of going to play for title-winner Manchester City, who beat Napoli twice in the Champions League group stages this year, may prove too great an appeal though. We’ll have to wait and see.
