Jack Wilshere is in the sights of AS Roma, as the Serie A club prepare for the possibility of losing Radja Nainggolan this summer.

Italian outlet Quotidiano write that Roma are starting to worry about Nainggolan’s future with the club. He didn’t have his best season, and ended up missing out on the squad to go to the World Cup with Belgium. He also had a few off-field problems, and would reportedly be available for around €30m to anyone wants him.

As a result, the Italian club are trying to get ahead of the problem by bringing in a new midfielder. Wilshere is reportedly in their ‘spotlight’, as his expiring contract makes him a cheap option.

Roma already tried to bring the midfielder to the club two years ago, of course, when he ended up going on loan to Bournemouth instead.

Reportedly Arsenal weren’t keen on doing a deal with the club after the way they dealt with negotiations for Kostas Manolas, so it didn’t end up happening. This time around, it’s not up to the Gunners, it’s up to Wilshere.

The main hurdle to overcome would be the midfielder’s salary demands. Roma don’t have as much to spend on wages as Arsenal, and as we’ve seen the North London club are already hesitant to give him what he wants.

We’ll see how things pan out in the coming weeks, once Unai Emery gets a chance to speak to the squad.
