Arsenal are interested in Lorenzo Pellegrini and Dennis Praet, according to various sources, as the club look to fill the growing holes in midfield.

Di Marzio initially reported the two rumours. First, the website wrote that Arsenal are looking to try and pick up Pellegrini for less than his release clause. They’re hoping to use Unai Emery’s pre-existing relationship with Roma sporting director Monchi to ease through negotiations. The two worked together at Sevilla.

If Arsenal do have to pay his release clause, Sky Sports reports that the 21-year-old midfielder would cost them £26m.

Meanwhile, Praet’s release clause is relatively similar, at just under £22m, and Di Marzio suggest it’s very possible Arsenal will end up paying it. The club have already reportedly had discussions with the player’s agent. The Italian outlet refuses to rule out that Arsenal will try to sign both players.

In Praet’s case, the club have competition. Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli have all followed the player in the past.

Both midfielders have been regulars in their side’s Serie A campaign in 2017/18. Pellegrini has made 28 league appearances, scoring three and assisting four from a defensive midfield position. Meanwhile Praet has scored one and assisted three in his 32 appearances.
