Arsenal are now said to be in ‘advanced talks’ with Stephan Lichtsteiner as the club and player look to sort out a deal before the start of the World Cup.
That’s according to Italian journalist, Alfredo Pedulla, speaking on Sport Italia. He confirmed that Lichtsteiner has already been in London to talk with Arsenal ahead of a free move from Juventus.
Arsenal are said to want to sign ready-made players who will need no time to bed into the team due to their experience and with Lichtsteiner they will certainly get that.
34-years-old, he has a combined 565 appearances with Grasshopper, Lille, Lazio and Juventus. With the latter, he has won seven league titles, three supercups and four Coppa Italia’s in just seven years.
According to other reports in Italy, Lichtsteiner will make a decision about his future in the next two weeks before the start of the World Cup.
Arsenal, at present, have no defined right-back back-up for Bellerin but Lichtsteiner would bring so much more than that to the squad, as well as freeing up cash for other positions that desperately need reinforced.
