Arsenal are reportedly planning on bringing Arsene Wenger back to the club in some sort of off-field capacity in the near future according to a report that was in the Telegraph towards the end of February.

The Telegraph are consistently one of the more reliable publications when it comes to Arsenal news, and Jeremey Wilson, along with Matt Law, wrote on 27 February, “Arsenal’s preference would be to make a clean break before inviting him back in some role in the future.

“A manager who can work within their new structure is another priority and, while Carlo Ancelotti is available and would be interested, they are more likely to target someone younger.”

This would fit with what the Frenchman himself wants as he prepares to take up another managerial job next season.

Perhaps Wenger would return as a named Director of Football rather than whatever it is they are calling Raul Sanllehi’s position at present.

Whatever happens, we are set for a clean break this summer with all parties involved given space to move on and find themselves without relying on the others.
