Offside stats could explain why Lacazette is struggling to score

Alexandre Lacazette has been caught offside more than any other big-six striker except Harry Kane, according to the statistics.

The Express put together a list of the top 10 players with the most offsides in the Premier League this season. Lacazette was the only Arsenal player to make the list, although former Gunner Alexis Sanchez just missed out by one offside.

Here is the list in full:

Son Heung-Min

19 offsides

Ashley Barnes

19 offsides

Chris Wood

20 offsides

Alvaro Morata

21 offsides

Alexandre Lacazette

22 offsides

Salomon Rondon

23 offsides

Marko Arnautovic

28 offsides

Glenn Murray

29 offsides

Jamie Vardy

32 offsides

Harry Kane

32 offsides

Hopefully this is something which will improve as Lacazette spends more time with the team.

Once players know the types of runs their strikers are going to make, they can time their passes better. On the other side of things, once the 26-year-old knows when to expect a pass, he can make better runs.

Whatever the reason though, it’s something the French international needs to work on.

So far he’s only got nine goals for Arsenal, which isn’t enough if he wants to compete with Aubameyang. The Gabon international already has three in just five league games.

Of course, the injury he’s currently recovering from didn’t help much either, and hopefully he’ll come back fitter and stronger.
