Arsenal’s Anna Filbey has undergone surgery to correct ruptured ligaments in her right ankle.
The 18-year-old England midfielder, who only made her debut for the senior Arsenal side last month, posted a picture of her in hospital after surgery, which she reports ‘went well’.
Filbey is the Development Team captain who was enjoying a breakthrough year at the club.
She was already facing a tough ask to get into the first team ahead of Jordan Nobbs, Kim Little, and Danielle van de Donk and this injury comes with nine games of the season still remaining during which time Filbey would have been hopeful of seeing some minutes.
