Arsenal fans haven’t shown much sympathy for Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean forward revealed his transfer to Manchester United has been “very rough” so far.
Sanchez is on international duty at the moment, but told local media he almost decided to stay in Manchester, given his personal difficulties at the moment.
“As I am self-demanding I expected something better,” he said. “I also had doubts about coming to the national team, the change of club was very abrupt.
“I had asked the coach to give me permission not to come, but thinking about it, I said we had to be here together to get things right. Changing my team has been very rough, many things have become more difficult.”
There’s no doubt that things haven’t gone as planned for Sanchez at United so far. Since his penalty rebound against Huddersfield on February 3rd, he’s only managed one assist and no goals in all competitions.
At this point he has two Champions League knockout matches under his belt, as well as games against Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool, and not one goal contribution to show for any of it.
Unsurprisingly, Arsenal fans are loving it, and pounced on the latest remarks:

Alexis on his United move:
"As I am self-demanding, I expected something better. After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly."
You went to a team that hasn't finished above us past 4 seasons. What did you expect? Money blinded you old pal.

Alexis struggling whilst Mkhitaryan hits form
I think what makes the situation all the more enjoyable at the moment is how things are going with Mkhitaryan.
The Armenian international was arguably the star of Arsenal’s two-legged victory over AC Milan. He scored and was consistently dangerous in Italy, then put in a massive shift to get the team over the line in London. In between, he scored and assisted in the Premier League against Watford.
I’m sure Sanchez will find his feet eventually, but for the time being the fallout is entertaining to watch.
