On Sunday, Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored one and assisted one as Arsenal beat Watford, and fans were quick to point out Alexis Sanchez’s comparatively disappointing performances.
Mkhitaryan’s goal contributions at the weekend brought him to two goals and six assists in eight starts for the club. Meanwhile, Alexis is only on one goal and two assists in his nine starts for Manchester United.
What’s more, the Chilean’s efforts came against League Two Yeovil Town, and 15th-placed Huddersfield. Mkhitaryan’s goal at the San Siro and assists against top-half opposition like Everton and Watford were fairly unequivocally in bigger games.
Arsenal fans jumped onto social media to poke fun at their former forward:
2 goals 6 assists 0 piano renditions. Mkhitaryan.

Mkhitaryan is celebrating his goals and assists at Arsenal, while the other guy celebrates other players goals.
Go argue with the piano.

Mkhitaryan balling while Alexis is celebrating others people's goals, IS THAT YOUR KING?

Alexis has been utter garbage for United since signing, I’m not saying it just because I support Arsenal. Compared to Mkhitaryan, who has 5 assists and a goal in a terrible Arsenal side. I feel like we got the better deal in the end.

Mkhitaryan with 6 assists and 2 goals. That's what he can produce when playing attacking football. Was never gonna work out for him playing at United on the left side of a 5 man defense. Just go and ask Alexis.

Seems the case. Imagine if situation was reversed: Arsenal signed Alexis from Utd, he loses the ball 47 times in one game, Mkhitaryan 6 assists and 2 goals in 8 games for United. We would get slaughtered in the press.

Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan both scored and assisted yesterday for Arsenal, meanwhile dog shagger (Alexis) set a record on Saturday against Liverpool, was dispossessed 47 times highest ever recorded in football #Arsenal

United fans were just as quick to respond by pointing to their league position compared to Arsenal, and I’m sure they’ll enjoy their second place trophy parade come May.
On an individual basis though, it’s hard to argue that Sanchez has played better for his new club than Mkhitaryan. Wenger’s side may be a lot worse off than Mourinho’s, but that was already the case before the transfer.
Alexis joined a club pushing for the title, whilst the Armenian joined the Gunners at a real low point. Despite that, he’s still showing his quality, and hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.
