On Sunday, Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored one and assisted one as Arsenal beat Watford, and fans were quick to point out Alexis Sanchez’s comparatively disappointing performances.
Mkhitaryan’s goal contributions at the weekend brought him to two goals and six assists in eight starts for the club. Meanwhile, Alexis is only on one goal and two assists in his nine starts for Manchester United.
What’s more, the Chilean’s efforts came against League Two Yeovil Town, and 15th-placed Huddersfield. Mkhitaryan’s goal at the San Siro and assists against top-half opposition like Everton and Watford were fairly unequivocally in bigger games.
Arsenal fans jumped onto social media to poke fun at their former forward:

United fans were just as quick to respond by pointing to their league position compared to Arsenal, and I’m sure they’ll enjoy their second place trophy parade come May.
On an individual basis though, it’s hard to argue that Sanchez has played better for his new club than Mkhitaryan. Wenger’s side may be a lot worse off than Mourinho’s, but that was already the case before the transfer.
Alexis joined a club pushing for the title, whilst the Armenian joined the Gunners at a real low point. Despite that, he’s still showing his quality, and hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.
