Francis Coquelin’s season with Valencia is over already after the midfielder suffered a nasty injury in training.

Less than two months after Coquelin left north London for Valencia, the 26-year-old has suffered a terrible injury that will keep him sidelined for the rest of the reason.

The midfielder has ruptured his Achilles in his right leg and has undergone surgery after an ambulance took him from Valencia’s training ground to the hospital.

Although Coquelin wasn’t exactly injury free during his time at Arsenal, this is a big one and you can’t help but feel for him.

Arsenal fans were classy in their response to the news.

Although he wasn’t good enough for our club and most of us were pleased to see him leave, no one disliked him and most recognised the passion he showed on the pitch. He loved Arsenal and there’s no reason to feel anything other than compassion for him at this time.

Since his move to La Liga, Coquelins’ made 11 appearances and even scored a goal. It’s sad to see his good run potentially come to an end.

Hopefully the Frenchman will bounce back from surgery quickly and take some time to recover. If he’s ruled out for the rest of the season, at least he can take the summer to really make sure he’s fighting fit for August.

Get well soon, Francis.
