Ian Wright thinks making it back into the top four is pretty much an impossible task after the weekend’s defeat to Tottenham, and Arsenal have to focus on the Europa League instead.

Arsenal have a big couple of weeks ahead of them.

First, they have the home and away legs of their Europa League tie against Östersunds FK. Then, they head back to Wembley for the League Cup final against Manchester City.

Ian Wright says winning the final would be a nice bonus, but the European competition is more important now.

“Arsenal face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final in 12 days and it would be great for my old club to get another trophy,” he told The S*n. “But the competition they really MUST win is the Europa League.

“This could be Arsene Wenger’s only route back into the Champions League. Fourth spot in the Premier League now looks impossible for Wenger. Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Spurs pretty much ended any hopes.

“When you consider the defensive errors that keep happening, I cannot see Arsenal avoiding defeat. They don’t seem to be learning or improving and that is really frustrating.”

Arsenal might need to prioritise a bit with the two competitions, because they play the home leg against Östersunds FK on Thursday, and the League Cup final on Sunday.

When you’re playing the best team in the league at Wembley, I doubt you’ll win if your whole team played three days earlier.

Then again, if Arsenal rest their best team on the Thursday, they could be out of the Europa League.

As Wright says, that’s the competition they desperately need to win at the moment.

All this just makes the away leg all the more important. If Arsenal can come out of it with a comfortable win, they can rotate the team at the Emirates.

Let’s hope they can overcome the freezing conditions and put in a good performance!
