Aaron Ramsey is in a race to be fit for the League Cup final this weekend, and according to reports he’s undergoing intensive treatment to make it back in time.

After scoring a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Everton on 3rd February, Ramsey suffered a groin strain.

The injury kept him out of Arsenal’s derby match against Tottenham, and both Europa League ties against Östersunds FK.

A couple of weeks after the initial strain, Arsenal hope to have the Welshman back for the cup final on Sunday.

According to Wednesday’s Telegraph [hardcopy]: “There is still a chance that intensive treatment will at least ensure that his (Ramsey’s) goalscoring threat is available from the bench.”

The positive news is that Ramsey took part in full training with the squad on Wednesday.

There is, however, no urgency to rush him back, with more training sessions available after the Östersund match, but it seems as if he is starting to get close to full fitness.

Alternatively, Arsenal could just want to test him early and see if there’s any chance he can play. That way Wenger can plan his final sessions around the players he knows will be available.

The manager told his press conference that Ramsey had a good session, but it remains to be seen whether he can improve his intensity in time for the final.

Hopefully, Ramsey will win his race for fitness.

Arsenal are clearly better with him in the team, as we saw in that match against Everton.

Perhaps more importantly, they also find trips to Wembley a lot easier with the 27-year-old in the side.
