Chelsea are one of the top five teams most likely to sign Alexandre Lacazette next, according to bookmakers.

Ligue 1 Monaco are favourites.

The Daily Star rounded up the odds from a well known bookmakers after Lacazette’s disappointing cameo against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday:

Monaco

– 3/1

Any Chinese club

– 5/1

Inter Milan

– 8/1

Chelsea

– 12/1

Paris Saint-Germain

– 12/1

Even though the odds still aren’t particularly great that the French striker will join Chelsea, it’s strange to see them on the list at all.

Lacazette only joined Arsenal for a then club-record fee last summer, and at 26-years-old he’ll reach his peak in the near future.

Arsenal sold Olivier Giroud to Chelsea and Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United in the January window, so they’re no averse to sellings players to rivals.

Those were relatively special cases though.

Giroud had to join Conte’s side in order for Wenger to sign Aubameyang. Plus, with Aubameyang joining, the French striker would’ve been surplus to requirements at Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez only had a few months left on his contract, and would’ve joined a rival in the summer anyway.

By contrast, Lacazette’s contract doesn’t expire until 2022, and he’s still clearly second choice at Arsenal.

Monaco make a lot more sense if he did decide to leave the club soon, but that still seems very unlikely.

I seriously doubt Wenger would give up on the centre-forward so quickly, after all the work to bring him in.

We’ll see how things go over the next few months although I doubt you will ind many sad if we included him as part of any deal for Thomas Lemar.
