Arsenal fans are angry but not surprised following their 1-0 defeat to Spurs at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
Despite Arsenal holding their own for 45 minutes against their north London rivals, as soon as Spurs came out for the second half, Arsene Wenger’s men were done for. In fact, most fans feel lucky that we only lost by 1-0 and weren’t completely humiliated.
After the break, Spurs were a different side and really began to turn the screw. In total, they had 18 shots, six of which were on target, to Arsenal’s one on target.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men tore Arsenal apart during that second 45 minutes but it’s difficult to pinpoint why. Mainly because Arsenal were terrible in just about every area. They couldn’t string more than a few passes together and only made four key passes in total to Spurs’ 15.
They basically created nothing and allowed Tottenham to attack at will.
We were fools to believe that, just because the Derby was at Wembley, Arsenal’s performance would be any better than their other terrible away performances this season. Arsenal have only won three times on the road this term – did we honestly expect that to change against Spurs?
Arsenal fans are furious, not just because of this one defeat to their north London rivals, but because it’s the same performance we’ve seen every other week all season. Why isn’t anything changing?
A top four finish always seemed unlikely this season but now it’s looking damn near impossible.
Here’s what Twitter had to say after the match:
Arsenal badly hammered today. How we’ve lost by only one goal is actually incredible. So many things wrong with that performance; set-up to execution. We deserved nothing from that.

The only thing that's consistent about this Arsenal team is their ability to trick us fans into thinking they've turned a corner.

No champions league again this year finish lower than spurs and Wenger will sign a contract extension that’s what’s gonna happen because our club is a FUCKING JOKE

You were outclassed tactically Arsene, just admit it. Spurs were much more dangerous than us today. Sad to see such a talented team wasted by a manager who hasn’t got a clue of how to use them.

He can’t be the boss anymore! Enough is enough! Only one attempt on target with @LacazetteAlex + @Aubameyang7 + @MesutOzil1088 + @HenrikhMkh . Unbelievable!!!!

#Wenger is dead tactically. I see no energy in today’s match

Always the same talk. We won with a team. Why make unnecessary changes to it. Work with the same team unless you have an injury then put in like for like. Wenger the tinker man

Please no more from the fraud boss

At this stage of the season, is there any point continuing to fight? We will not finish in the top four and we won’t be winning the Premier League. What is there to fight for?
