Arsenal fans are far from happy that Olivier Giroud has signed for Chelsea and just as we were beginning to move past allowing the 31-year-old to move to our rivals, Theo Walcott had to pipe up.

Theo left Arsenal this month in order to get some consistent playing time with Everton. The 28-year-old has already netted two goals and provided one assist in two games, and Gooners couldn’t be happier for him.

Giroud signed for Chelsea on transfer deadline day for a similar reason. According to the Blues’ official website, the 31-year-old is keen to play in the Champions League again and wanted to stay in London, making the switch a no-brainer.

Although Gooners (mostly) wished both well at their new clubs following the news they’d gone, the big France international’s transfer to Chelsea still feels a little raw. He was a real fan favourite and although he probably wasn’t ever good enough to be our first choice striker, he gave everything while in red-and-white.

Likewise, while Theo blew hot and cold, and never really amounted to the player he was supposed to be, he was a Gunner for almost 12 years.

Therefore, when Theo wished Giroud the best of luck and said he had been a good friend, it opened up a pretty fresh wound and Gooners lost it.

I’m not crying – YOU’RE crying.
