Leicester City manager Claude Puel claims Riyad Mahrez could cost over £100m in the summer, and insists the 26-year-old is happy at the King Power Stadium.

Despite Mahrez previously being very open about the fact he wants to move, Puel claims he’s happy at Leicester and could cost clubs over £100m if they try to sign him in the summer. “Perhaps; maybe in the summer he will cost even more than £100m,” he said.

“It’s just rumours, noise about him. We can see Riyad smile, enjoying his football, enjoying to play with his team-mates. After the training session he continues to play, I wanted him to stay rested, but it’s perfect.”

It’s hard to know whether Puel was actually saying he thinks Mahrez is worth over £100m or if he’s nodding to how ridiculous the market is. Either way, no one in their right mind is paying that much for the winger.

Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked with Mahrez. The Gunners even tried to sign him back in 2016 after the Foxes won the Premier League title, but he chose to stay put and sign a new deal.

Now, Arsenal reportedly want him as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, with the 29-year-old said to be completing his move to Manchester United this week.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp wants to bring someone in to fill the Philippe Coutinho-sized gap left in his squad after the 25-year-old’s £140m move to Barcelona.

Roma also allegedly made four bids for the Algeria international over the summer and the Catalans were linked. Leicester are currently said to be demanding around £50m for Mahrez, which is why Arsenal seem to have cooled their interest.

The winger’s scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 23 Premier League appearances this season.
