Theo Walcott’s agent Warwick Horton has denied telling Italian outlet, Tuttomercatoweb, that Walcott wanted to play in Serie A.

TMW claimed that Horton, who does represent Theo, told them ‘exclusively’ that, “I know that Theo would like to play in Serie A.

“He would certainly take offers and projects from Serie A clubs into consideration.”

These quotes were then picked up by other outlets and reported as stated by TMW, as happens.

But when I contacted Horton to confirm that he had indeed said what they were attributing to him, he replied “I haven’t spoken to anyone. It’s complete nonsense.”

Walcott has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal in this window although Arsene Wenger has said that he wanted the forward to play.

With one eye on what could be his last realistic chance to go to a World Cup and actually play, Theo must know that he needs to be more than a cup player to get into Gareth Southgate’s thinking.

Southampton are reportedly the most keen on a move for their former player and it’s hard not to see that move as good for everyone involved.
