It wasn’t the best performance but Arsenal’s 0-0 League Cup draw at Stamford Bridge could have gone a lot worse.
Here’s how they all got on individually:
Defence
David Ospina – 6
The man can’t hold onto a football. He almost gave away a tap-in to Cesc Fabregas after he fumbled a shot from Victor Moses in the first half and in the second half he came running out for a corner, then missed the ball entirely.
Somehow, he still managed to make six ‘saves’.
Calum Chambers – 6
The centre-back wasn’t as poor as he has been as of late and won two tackles. Still a lot of room for improvement though.
Shkodran Mustafi – 6.5
Yet again, the German was Arsenal’s strongest defender. He won five aerial duels and four defence duels. He also made nine clearances and had a shot on goal.
Rob Holding – 6
The 22-year-old is slow. Really slow. But, like Chambers, wasn’t terrible against Chelsea. We kept a clean sheet at least. He even completed three dribbles.
Next up, midfield
Midfield
Hector Bellerin – 6
Not the wing-back’s worst game for Arsenal. He attempted to drive play forward in the first half but his final ball, as usual, was lacking.
He completed 91% of his passes.
Jack Wilshere – 7
Captain Jack was once again one of Arsenal’s best players. He put in a lovely pass to Lacazette in the first half, which the striker should have buried.
He also completed an impressive 93% of his passes and two dribbles.
The 25-year-old had to be taken off in the second half after suffering a knock to his ankle. Hopefully he’s okay.
Granit Xhaka – 6
For some reason, the midfielder was put on corners and was really poor at it.
As usual, the 25-year-old tended to dawdle on the ball and lacked the quality to really drive us forward. However, he wasn’t terrible.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 6.5
The 20-year-old wasn’t as sharp as he has been for Arsenal recently. He allowed Victor Moses to run past him past too easily once or twice. Perhaps the occasion got to him or maybe he’s just knackered after being played so often.
Still, he was one of our stronger players despite only completing 75% of his passes.
Next up, forwards
Forwards
Danny Welbeck – 6
The forward had a really quiet game. He only completed 19 passes and had one shot. Although, as with Lacazette, it was hard for him to get into the game because Arsenal barely got out of their own half.
Alex Iwobi – 6
Although the forward’s performance against Chelsea was much better against Nottingham Forest, he still isn’t playing as well as we know he can.
He made an amazing run through the middle of the pitch in the second half but held onto the ball too long, even though he had Alexis one pass away to his right. It was disappointing.
Alexandre Lacazette – 6
The striker is struggling to score but considering Arsenal barely got out of their own half against Chelsea, you can’t really blame the bloke.
He only had one shot.
Next up, subs
Subs
Mohamed Elneny – 6
After coming on for Jack, the midfielder didn’t do too badly at all. He completed 89% of his passes, had a shot and made an interception.
Alexis Sanchez – 6
The forward didn’t have much time to get really involved in the game. He still had time to get dispossessed three times though.
