An Italian scout has put Hector Bellerin on a list of summer purchases for Juventus, following the rumours of their interest in the Arsenal man last year.
The scout told TuttoJuve that Bellerin is on their list for the summer, as they think the team is fine for January.
According to reports in September, Juventus made a late enquiry for Bellerin in the summer. They were willing to pay £36.9m, but Arsenal didn’t even consider such a late bid. It seems like there could be interest again at the end of the season though.
The Gunners shouldn’t be too worried if they really want to hold onto the right-back. They’ve shown they’re willing to run players’ contracts right to the end with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil. In Bellerin’s case, that would mean waiting until 2023 to leave.
The Spaniard’s long contract should also allow Arsenal to command a high transfer fee if they do want to let him go. Bellerin is still just 22, he has masses of experience in a top European league and he’s our only right-back.
It’s hard to think how the club’s negotiating position could be much stronger. Juventus can show their interest if they want, all it does is drive the price up even further.
