Emi Martinez may cut his loan at Getafe short to join Leeds United, according to reports.

Martinez joined Getafe on loan for the season, but has found himself playing back-up to first choice Vicente Guaita. He’s made unlucky to make just four appearances for the Spanish club, nowhere near enough for a player in desperate need of regular action.

There was a chance that Guaita could join Crystal Palace, therefore giving Martinez a chance of becoming first-choice in Spain. Unfortunately, that deal doesn’t look like it’ll go through, and Martinez could be on the move instead.

According to AS, the 25-year-old could join Leeds United in the final days of the window. Leeds have yet to settle on a first-choice keeper this season, so Martinez may receive more first-team minutes.

It’s unknown at this stage if they’re looking for a loan or a permanent deal. Martinez has spent times on loan at Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham in the past, so he has experience playing in England’s lower divisions.

With Petr Cech and David Ospina still taking up the first-team spots at Arsenal, the move present a good opportunity for him.
