Manchester United have made an offer for Alexis Sanchez, and could give Arsenal the chance to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of the deal.

Manchester United are making an effort to scupper Alexis’ potential move to Manchester City. That’s according to the Guardian, who claim the Red Devils have offered around £25m for the forward. In addition, they will give Arsenal the opportunity to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The news seems to originate from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Alexis has reportedly already agreed personal terms with City, and had his heart set on a move there for a while. However, their £20m bid for the player this month wasn’t enough to convince Arsenal to sell.

While no deal has been agreed, United could come in and attempt to do a deal themselves if they offer more money. Jose Mourinho could be looking to improve his attack as he’s been unhappy with the performances of Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian was linked with a move to Arsenal before he joined United. The Guardian report that while Arsenal may be interested, his £200,000 per week wages could prove a stumbling block.

Supporters won’t want Arsenal to sell to Jose Mourinho of all people, but having both Manchester clubs involved increases the chances of getting a bigger transfer fee. Getting a decent player in return would also be a welcome bonus.
