Rangers are keen to sign young midfielder Marcus McGuane on loan despite ongoing interest from Napoli, according to reports.

McGuane could be one of many young players set to go out on loan in January. According to the Sun, the 18-year-old is wanted by Rangers and several clubs in the UK.

They also report that Serie A club Napoli are interested in signing him. McGuane’s advisers are reportedly keen on him going somewhere where he receive regular first-team football.

Rangers could be a good destination for him, given they did good work with Gedion Zelalem during the 2015/16 season. The Sun claim that talks about a move are set to take place during the week.

McGuane made his Arsenal debut in the 4-2 win over BATE Borisov in the Europa League back in September. He played 11 minutes as a right wing-back to help Arsenal see out the lead. He also came for a very brief cameo in the 1-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade.

Since them, he’s been a regular for the u23 side and has featured nine times in the Premier League 2. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger already suggested many players could be loaned out during the January transfer window, so McGuane could be one of many.
