Former Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Diarra was a free agent after ending a spell in the United Arab Emirates with Al-Jazira.

The 32-year-old could have continued playing in Asia, but found himself at a much more glamorous location instead.

Somehow, the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder has been signed by PSG.

Diarra has had a very interesting career since leaving Arsenal in 2008. The midfielder struggled for regular game time in North London and made the move to Portsmouth.

He impressed so much that Real Madrid spent £18m to sign him. Diarra played in Spain until 2012, when he was signed by Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala as part of their spending spree.

From there, the Frenchman went on to play for Lokomotiv Moscow, Marseille and then Al-Jazira. All the while, he only managed to start more than 19 games in a season twice.

PSG were looking for midfield cover and may have been handicapped by their substantial spending in the summer. Hence, they turned to Diarra, who is at least a proven performer in France.

Despite his career looking over, he has one last chance to prove his worth on the European stage for a big club. It’s unknown how much he’ll feature for the Ligue 1 leaders, but it’s nevertheless an impressive move.
