Mesut Ozil could demand huge wages so that he’ll earn as much as Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.

Ozil will ask for a bigger salary in order to sign a new contract at Arsenal.

If you’re thinking that’s not really news, you’d be right. It stands to reason that a player would expect better wages when they sign a new deal at the club.

That hasn’t stopped the Daily Star from making a story out of it.

In light of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s pending signing and our interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Star believe Ozil will want more money than those two.

That makes some sense, but they took that story from the S*n, who, in turn, took their information from a speculative piece in the Mirror.

The Mirror’s report is only pondering how Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang’s arrivals could effect Ozil’s contract negotiations.

Not that Arsenal needed to sign two players for Ozil to demand more money.

Reports from the summer, well before Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang became targets for the club, were saying that Ozil wanted big wages.

Nothing has changed since then.

If Arsenal want to keep Ozil, they’ll need to offer a big contract.

That’s usually how it works.
