Alexandre Lacazette’s goal last Saturday was the 500th scored by a Frenchman for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Lacazette’s goal in the 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday turned out to be a milestone.

It was the 500th scored by a Frenchman in the Premier League for Arsenal.

Arsenal have had a lot of French players since Arsene Wenger arrived at the club in 1996.

One of those went on to become the club’s record goalscorer.

Thierry Henry is responsible for 175 of those 500 goals, a record that isn’t going to be broken any time soon.

After him is Olivier Giroud. The 31-year-old has 73 league goals to his name, with a good few of those coming from the substitute’s bench.

Robert Pires’ 62 goals for the club went a long way towards Wenger’s early successes, while Sylvain Wiltord (31), Patrick Vieira (28) and Nicolas Anelka (23) all made vital contributions.

Laurent Koscielny’s 18 goals is a great return for a centre back, as is William Gallas’ 12.

10 of Samir Nasri’s 18 goals came in his one outstanding season with the club, while Abou Diaby’s 14 were stretched out over nine years.

Lacazette just needs one more goal to surpass Emmanuel Petit and match the mighty Mathieu Flamini (10).

Bringing up the rear are Bacary Sagna (4), Gilles Grimandi (4), Mikael Silvestre (3), Pascal Cygan (3), Mathieu Debuchy (1), Gael Clichy (1), Sebastien Squillaci (1) and Jeremie Aliadiere (1).
