Arsene Wenger gave the latest team news ahead of Arsenal’s match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Laurent Koscielny (Achilles) and Nacho Monreal (ankle) are set to return to action for Arsenal’s clash against Palace at the weekend.
Kos has been out since the 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns. The 32-year-old’s Achilles, which he receives daily treatment for, finally gave up the ghost and he hobbled off after 72 minutes.
Although it’s unlikely that the ex-France international will be able to keep the recurring problem at bay for the rest of the season, it’s good to see he’s recovered for now.
Not that the centre-back has been his usual reliable self this term.
Monreal returning, on the other hand, is a massive boost.
The Spaniard was sidelined during Arsenal’s 3-3 draw against Liverpool on December 22.
The 31-year-old was subbed off at half-time after getting a kick to the ankle and has been out of action ever since.
Monreal is known by Gooners as ‘Mr. Reliable’, so having him available for selection is reassuring.
Finally, after a tough January, players are finally returning to fitness. Hopefully, they continue to recover and we actually have something approaching a decent side by the time February rocks up.
Otherwise, we’re in serious trouble.
