Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has issued one of the strangest apologies I’ve ever read to Dortmund fans.

Aubameyang had a roller coaster of a month at Dortmund.

The 28-year-old was suspended for being late to a team meeting, was then kept out of the squad amid speculation that he was signing for Arsenal, wore a shirt with Ousmane Dembélé on the back, then was reintroduced to the starting line-up and booed by his own fans.

However, after the Gunners finally announced the Gabon international’s move at around 11am on deadline day, he decided to apologise for his actions over the last few weeks… well sort of.

At least the striker’s apology was obviously written by him personally. No one with any knowledge of PR would explain away his actions as the 28-year-old just being a ‘crazy boy’… but it’s better than nothing.

Not that the Dortmund fans in the comment section of his Instagram seem to agree…

Aubameyang was at the Bundesliga club for four-and-a-half years.

He made 213 appearances, scored 141 goals and provided 36 assists.
