Arsenal fans have only just allowed themselves to get excited about Reiss Nelson and he’s already getting linked with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain after reportedly turning down a new deal.
It seems that Arsenal players are running down their contracts younger and younger these days.
Nelson is the latest player the Gunners are reportedly having trouble tying down to a new deal.
The exciting 18-year-old has just 18 months left on his current contract, which means that Arsenal could be saying goodbye to the winger sooner than they intended.
Needless to say, Arsenal fans are livid. Not only are we seemingly allowing the big players to leave, we can’t even keep hold of teenagers any more. Even though Nelson will have a far greater chance of getting regular first team football in north London, he apparently still doesn’t want to stay.
Nelson has now made 11 appearances for the Gunners’ first team this season and trains with the senior squad along with the likes of 20-year-old Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
If Arsenal don’t manage to tie him down soon and a club like Real Madrid or PSG do swoop in and steal him, they’ll face major backlash.
Here’s what Twitter had to say:
Hate this club. So goddamn much.
