The Italian media’s love-in with Wojciech Szczesny doesn’t look as if it will be stopping any time soon with every kind word a dagger to the heart of Arsenal fans who still don’t understand why we sold him.

Juventus beat Cagliari by 1-0 in Serie A on Saturday and Tutto Mercato Web believes this narrow victory was down to Woj.

The 27-year-old made two ‘miracle’ saves and was the highest rated player alongside goalscorer Federico Bernardeschi, according to the Italian outlet.

“Decisive with his interventions, he performed two miracles (to deny) Farias and Padoin,” Tutto Mercato Web says. “His growth is exponential, the three points are also his merit.”

Although they only rated him as 7, French and Italian outlets are notoriously harsh and this would translate to at least a 9 in the UK tabloids.

It was Woj’s sixth clean sheet in 10 Serie A appearances this season and the Polish shot-stopper with the cockney accent has only shipped six goals in 13 total appearances, keeping nine clean sheets in total.

As happy as I am for Woj, since he deserves every bit of praise he’s getting, I’m always going to be bitter about Arsenal selling him to Juve.

We sent him out on loan to Roma for two years, he became one of the top goalkeepers in Europe, and then we sold him for £10m.

We kept 35-year-old Petr Cech, who just this week failed to save his 14th and 15th penalties since joining Arsenal in 2015, and David Ospina, who I’m 80% sure is an alien.

Arsenal selling Woj simply doesn’t make sense and it’s looking more and more stupid the better the Poland international gets while he’s in Italy.

It’s fine though because Cech can play until he’s 40
