Gilles Grimandi was in attendance for Nimes 3-0 victory over Chateauroux in Ligue 2, according to reports.

The former player-turned-scout was in France over the weekend keeping an eye out for talent.

According to French journalist, Romain Collet-Gaudin, Grimandi was watching Nimes play Chateauroux on Saturday night.

It’s unknown who he was scouting, but a number of young players were on display.

He may have been looking at Nimes’ right back on the night, 19-year-old Sofiane Alakouch.

Chateauroux’s 21-year-old midfielder Sidy Sarr, who picked up a red card during the game, may also be a possibility.

Whoever he’s looking at it, it’s evident that Arsenal are paying more attention to French football now after some high-profile misses.

N’Golo Kante, for example, was a player Arsenal knew about when he was playing for Caen in Ligue 2.

Riyad Mahrez was another who the club could have signed when he a player at Le Havre.

The two went on to Leicester and developed into excellent players.

Having signed some duds from France in recent times, Arsenal will be hoping that they can spot the next unknown talent coming through in French football.
