Theo Walcott has this fascinating ability to play terribly but still score goals and help the team. His record with the Gunners isn’t too shabby either, reminding us he may still have been useful.
Theo is a fairly decent goalscorer, in the sense that even when he’s playing like he’s never seen a football before, he can usually score a goal. With this in mind, should Arsenal really be selling him to Everton?
Since the then-19-year-old signed his first ‘proper’ contract with the Gunners in 2009, three years after he joined, Walcott has managed to score a total of 59 Premier League goals in 207 appearances. He’s also provided 44 assists.
This means the 28-year-old directly contributes to a goal almost ever other game. What’s more, if you look at his scarce amount of minutes, particularly in recent seasons, he’s managed to do a lot with very little time.
In fact, those 103 goals and assists happened over just 12,509 minutes. This means he scores or creates a goal every 121 minutes.
Even this season, despite amassing only 886 minutes in all competitions, Theo’s scored four goals and assisted five, contributing a goal every 98 minutes.
Still, despite his positive stats, I firmly believe that selling him to Everton is exactly what he needs to bounce back. He’s 28 now with the World Cup coming up this summer. Perhaps, with proper game time, he can resurrect his fledgling career.
