Olivier Giroud could move to Borussia Dortmund on loan as part of the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal, but only if his wife is happy to leave London.

Giroud could have a large part to play in any deal that will Aubameyang join Arsenal. Borussia Dortmund want a quick replacement for their striker, and could ask for the Frenchman on loan for the rest of the season.

In theory, such a move would benefit several parties. Giroud would get the playing time he needs to start for France at the World Cup this summer, Dortmund would get a good striker to replace the one they’ve lost and Arsenal would gain a quality striker in Aubameyang.

There are complications, however. As mentioned by The S*n, Olivier Giroud’s wife Jennifer wasn’t overly keen on leaving London during the summer. French journalist Julien Laurens, isn’t convinced Germany will thrill her either.

“I think Giroud will do very well in Germany if he ends up there,” he said. “I didn’t ask Jen, his wife, if she really didn’t want him to move to Everton because she didn’t want to move to Liverpool. I’m not sure what she’s going to feel once she discovers Dortmund.”

It’s possible that Giroud’s wife would be more agreeable if it were only a temporary move. It’s also very presumptuous of people to assume what she would or would not do. In the end, this could be another layer to the transfer, and something Giroud would have to discuss in private.

The Arsenal centre-forward will be out of contract in the summer of 2019, so he’ll want to clear up his long-term future, not just sort out his short-term issues.
