Arsenal legend and first team coach Jens Lehmann believes Arsenal have received ‘by far’ the ‘most bad’ referring decisions in the Premier League this term.

Lehmann is hoping the poor decisions the Gunners have received this season will balance themselves out soon.

“We had to accept by far the most bad calls in penalty decisions against us,” the ex-goalkeeper told Sport Bild.

“We hope this will balance out over the remainder of the season.”

Arsenal have been astonishingly unlucky with refereeing decisions this season.

Alexandre Lacazette’s goal that was disallowed at Stoke; the offside goal at the Etihad; the last-minute penalty away at West Brom; Eden Hazard’s dive – to name a few.

And while we did have a lucky goal at Burnley and perhaps shouldn’t have been awarded the free-kick which led to a goal in the north London derby, these decisions weren’t nearly as black and white as an offside goal being handed to the opposition.

As Arsene Wenger alluded to after the 1-1 draw against the Baggies, when it happens so often, it’s hard not to feel slightly targeted.

In reality, the standard of refereeing in the Premier League is poor across the board at the moment and as Gooners we only see how badly it’s going for Arsenal because we’re watching them every week.

At least we can say one thing for certain: the quality of officials in the Premiership needs to improve and some sort of consistency needs to be found.
