Everton have reportedly joined Barcelona in the race to sign Nice midfielder, Jean Seri, while Arsenal haven’t been linked with the 26-year-old since November.

Over the summer, Arsenal were heavily linked with Seri. In fact, they were reportedly ready to hand Nice £35m for him.

The 26-year-old was apparently being looked at as a replacement for Santi Cazorla, who is still battling to return to fitness after undergoing surgery on his ankle.

However, the Gunners’ interest appears to have cooled, with the last time we were really linked with the midfielder being back in November. And even then, that was only so Barcelona’s interest could once again get a mention.

Now, Everton are now said to be interested in signing Seri as well. The Toffees are clearly in the market for a midfielder as they’ve also reportedly been sniffing around Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi.

Seri made his feelings towards a move clear over the summer. He wanted one. However, it seems he was fixated on signing for Barcelona and the deal fell through at the last minute. Something he blames on Nice.

Tottenham, Roma and PSG were also linked.

Seri’s gone on to make 21 starts for Nice this season and score one Ligue 1 goal.

Have Arsenal completely binned the idea of signing the Ivory Coast international?

Does this suggest that Jack Wilshere could be staying in north London despite having under six months on his current deal?
