Chuba Akpom has been fined and banned from driving after crashing his car while drunk on ‘vodka and cranberry juice’.

Akpom was charged with drink driving after crashing his £60k Range Rover  into a fence and roadside furniture near his home in Barnet.

According to the The S*n, the incident occurred around 4:50am on December 17th after a party with his friends.

The striker was said to have “stupidly agreed” to putting vodka in two glasses of cranberry juice.

Akpom was charged by the police after he failed a breathalyser.

After a hearing at Willesden Magistrates Court, Akpom was fined £9,350, with £85 costs.

He was also disqualified from driving for 17 months.

Before details of the incident came to light, Akpom’s father feared his son had been kidnapped.

Akpom’s lawyer, Aki Achillea, told the court: “His father woke up later and found the crashed car outside the gate with no driver and for a moment he was seriously concerned about what had happened to his son.

“He was about to ring hospitals and the police, fearing his son, being a high-profile footballer, had been abducted so this has affected the family as well.

“He has let himself down and made a dreadful mistake for a boy that has always been so disciplined.”

On his offences, prosecutor Zahid Hussain said: “His driving was erratic and he was observed by an off-duty police officer. He was parallel to a Shell petrol station and lost control, mounting the grass verge.

“He crashed into roadside furniture then drove back towards the road and into a heavy-duty fencing, knocking it down and out of the ground.

“He caused extensive damage to his Range Rover and left considerable debris strewn around the road.”

Akpom has been a regular in Arsenal’s squads for the Europa League and Carabao Cup this season.

He may have due to sit on the bench when Arsenal play Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this Sunday.

However, this incident may see him omitted for disciplinary reasons.
