Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly pushing for a move to Real Madrid, as Arsenal and Dortmund negotiate his price.

Don Balon write that the Gabon international wants a move to the Spanish giants. He’s willing to take a pay cut to go, and thinks he’s a better option than Harry Kane or Mauro Icardi.

Meanwhile the Daily Star claim Arsenal only want to pay £35m for the striker, due to his disciplinary concerns. Dortmund want £53m, so the two sides have some way to go to reach an agreement.

Don Balon aren’t the most trustworthy publication, but Aubameyang has a history with Madrid. In 2016, reporters asked him if he wanted to join the Spanish club.

He responded: “Yes. It’s a promise I made to my grandfather. Right now I feel very good at Dortmund but in the future we’ll see.”

On the other hand, you’d think Real would’ve made a move by now if they’re interested. Those quotes are over a year old, and multiple windows have come and gone without any progress. It seems like the club are content with their current options.

As for the haggling over price, it’s perfectly possible Arsenal would bid so low under normal circumstances. But for one of the best strikers in the world, whose contract doesn’t expire until 2021, I don’t think even the Gunners are that naive.
