Besiktas officials are reportedly in London amid rumours that they want to sign Danny Welbeck on loan.

On Wednesday, we reported that Besiktas are apparently interested in taking Welbeck on loan. They’ve just sold their star player Cenk Tosun to Everton for £27m and need attacking options.

Although Arsene Wenger has allegedly blocked a move for the 27-year-old if Alexis Sanchez goes to Manchester United, the Turkish club’s officials are said to be in London at the moment.

Welbeck isn’t the only Premier League player Besiktas are reportedly looking at. In fact, they’re supposedly keen on Leicester City’s Islam Slimani, Kelechi Iheanacho, and West Ham’s Javier Hernandez.

On one hand, if Wenger is genuinely preventing Welbeck from going out on loan, I can understand why. If we can’t find an adequate replacement for Alexis, we can’t be sending away our other attacking options.

However, on the other, it could be a massive opportunity for the England international.

The forward has really struggled for game time at Arsenal this season. He’s made just seven Premier League starts. At a club like Besiktas, he could probably get regular minutes under his belt, which in turn will help him to rebuild his fitness in a less physical league.

Welbeck only has 18 months left on his Arsenal contract.
