Arsene Wenger predicts that Arsenal’s League Cup clash against Chelsea on Wednesday will be far more ‘spectacular’ than the first leg at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal managed to hold Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at the Bridge during the first leg of the League Cup semi-final clash but Wenger reckons the second leg at the Emirates will be far more exciting.

“We want to go to the final, the two teams know each other very well,” said Wenger. “The second leg will be more open. It should be much more spectacular than the first one.”

Both teams will need to score in order to progress to the League Cup final, so it makes sense that the game will be far more open.

In theory, the ball is in Arsenal’s court as they have the home advantage. Wenger’s men tend to be a lot stronger on their own soil, but when it comes to semi-finals you never know what could happen.

Antonio Conte’s side are in decent form at the moment. They beat Brighton 4-0 at the weekend. But the Gunners also comfortably won 4-1 against Crystal Palace, so they’ll be confident of getting a result.

We’ve got a lot to prove, and after Alexis Sanchez was left out of the squad because he was on his way to Manchester United, we looked like a more cohesive side.

Not many Arsenal fans seem to actually care about whether their team wins the League Cup this season. We just want to see an improvement in the way we play.
