Arsenal are through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup after defeating Liverpool 3-2 in extra-time.

Arsenal needed extra-time to get by Liverpool and progress to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup on Saturday.

The young Guns took to the Anfield pitch and needed just 16 minutes to take the lead.

An Arsenal set-piece wasn’t cleared completely by Liverpool, and that gave Robbie Burton the chance to fire his side into the lead with the aid of a big deflection.

Liverpool pressed for an equaliser and got it just three minutes before half-time.

Rafael Camacho surged down the left and played a well-weighed pass for Curtis Jones to finish coolly past Virginia in the Arsenal goal.

Four minutes into the second half, Liverpool took the lead for the first time in the game.

It was Jones who got on the score-sheet again, breaking into the Arsenal penalty area before watching his cross-shot go in via a deflection.

Six minutes later, Liverpool had a potentially killer goal disallowed, prompting Arsenal to battle their way back into the game, finishing the half strongly.

On 85 minutes, substitute Bukayo Saka blasted in Arsenal’s equaliser, sending the game into extra-time.

The momentum was firmly with the Gunners, as Tyreece John-Jules latched onto Saka’s cross from the right hand side and nudged his team into the lead.

That goal proved to be the winner and capped off an excellent result.
