If Arsenal really want to re-sign Oguzhan Ozyakup, all they have to do is wait until the end of the season and they can get the midfielder for free.

On December 5, talkSPORT reported that Arsenal were prepared to waive their sell-on clause in order to buy back Ozzie from Besiktas in January. However, if they wait just six more months, they wouldn’t have to pay anything…

The Gunners reportedly have a 30% sell-on clause in Ozzie’s contract with Besiktas. This means that Arsenal get just under a third of whatever they sell the midfielder for.

The Turkish side are supposedly demanding £11m for the midfielder, which the Gunners should only have to pay £7.7m.

Arsenal have apparently been so impressed with their former player that they’re willing to pay the whole £11m.

Again, as I previously mentioned, this seems like a strange move considering all they have to do is wait until his contract runs out in June and they can sign him on a free. Especially as him putting pen to paper on an extension in Turkey is looking increasingly unlikely.

That’s if they do genuinely still want him back, that is.

After making just two senior appearances during his four years at Arsenal, Ozzie has gone on to become a key midfielder for Besiktas.

The Turkey international has featured over 200 times since moving to Turkey in 2012. He’s scored 27 goals and assisted 45.
