Monaco appear to have put Keita Balde back on the transfer market. Despite links to Arsenal, the Gunners are unlikely to make a move if the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal goes through.

The Mirror write that the French club have put Arsenal and Liverpool ‘on red alert’ by making Balde available. They signed the winger in the summer, but are reportedly already looking to turn a profit by selling him on.

The 22-year-old winger started his Monaco career impressively this season. He scored five goals and assisted nine in 24 appearances in all competitions. As a left-winger, you can see why the media might link him to Arsenal, who recently lost Alexis Sanchez.

On the other hand, after signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan and closing in on a deal for Aubameyang, a deal doesn’t seem likely for the Gunners this window. The club have sold two forward players and are bringing two in, and a third would be overkill considering the side’s defensive, midfield and goalkeeping issues.

Much as we love Arsenal for their commitment to attractive attacking play, you can’t build an team on forwards alone. Plus, the club didn’t actually bring in any money for Alexis, so spending over £50m on Aubameyang is probably more than enough from the board’s point of view.

We’ll see what happens, but I think this one is a non-starter.
