Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admired Arsenal’s Invincibles as he was growing up.

Aubameyang joins the lengthy list of people who loved watching the Arsenal Invincibles.

The 28-year-old grew up watching that famous Arsenal team and was inspired by them.

“Players my age spent our teenage years admiring the amazing team Mr Wenger put together and the things they won,” he told the S*n back in 2015

The striker is being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

While it might not be the ideal time to join the club, he had a lot of respect for it and Arsene Wenger in the past hopefully that hasn’t faded too much since.

“Obviously, things are not the same as then. But Arsenal is still a big club. No doubt about that,” he said.

“Mr Wenger has still the hunger — and that’s what matters.”

Although this interview is three years old, it could be three hours old for how relevant it seems.

Interestingly, the S*n reports that a £53m should be completed within the next 48 hours.

Given that Arsenal have just had a bid rejected and are currently subject to a public exchange with Borussia Dortmund, that’s unlikely to be the case.

Arsene Wenger also recently said that nothing was close with Dortmund.

It does seems like Arsenal are trying to do a deal but such a big transfer will take time to sort out.

In the meantime, Aubameyang has been training with the Dortmund reserve team after being left out of their recent game with Hertha Berlin.

They return to action against Freiburg next weekend, and could have the striker back in the squad.
