Ray Wilkins believes Jack Wilshere isn’t getting enough game time at Arsenal and needs to leave.

Jack Wilshere has yet to start a game in the Premier League this season, but has featured regularly in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

The midfielder faces a tough time getting back into the England squad ahead of the World Cup in the summer. While Arsene Wenger thinks Wilshere should be called-up due to his quality, Ray Wilkins believes he’s need to leave if he is to have a chance.

“He has so much to offer Arsenal,” he told Sportingbet. “I’m baffled by Arsene’s comments that Jack should be in the England set up when he can’t step up and put him in the first team for Arsenal.

“Jack has to leave for me. It’s evident he’s only playing a bit part, and he’s too good for that. I get a little bit miffed by that, because if it doesn’t change – he needs to leave.”

Wilshere made his fifth league appearance of the season after coming off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Southampton. All of his league appearances have been as a substitute.

Wenger has used him as part of the front three this season, which puts him in direct competition with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. While he could also play in central midfield, Wenger prefers a partnership of Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey in the engine room.

Wilshere has spoken numerous times about his desire to stay at Arsenal, but may have to leave if he wants to start every week in the Premier League.
