Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Aaron Ramsey is suffering from a hamstring problem after Arsenal’s draw away to the Saints.
Ramsey pulled up during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw away to Southampton on Sunday afternoon and hobbled his way through the final few minutes.
Wenger has now confirmed that the 26-year-old has hurt his hamstring. Therefore, I imagine he’ll probably be sidelined for the Gunners’ Premier League clash against West Ham at the London Stadium mid-week unless he experiences a miraculous recovery.
“Aaron Ramsey couldn’t play at the end,” Wenger said post-match. “He had a hamstring problem.”
The midfielder has only missed one game (Watford) through injury this season so it’ll be a blow not to have him conducting play. However, the silver lining is that we could see Jack Wilshere step in.
Ramsey was one of Arsenal’s only decent players against Southampton, completing 50/53 passes (94%) and having three shots on target.
However, he didn’t play a single key pass. Therefore, perhaps it’s time that a more creative player, like Jack, has a go.
Obviously, most of us thought the 25-year-old would be replacing Granit Xhaka if he was going to have a run in the Premier League first team but here we are.
Knowing Wenger, he’ll stick on Francis Coquelin instead.
Hopefully Ramsey isn’t out for long. He’s a huge player for us when fit and we suffer when he’s not.
