Watford manager Marco Silva wants Theo Walcott in January, as the Hornets’ form continues to nosedive.

The Express claim Silva wants to bring the England international to Vicarage Road. Watford are apparently keeping an eye on the winger, although they still have doubts. The 28-year-old’s attitude worries the Portuguese manager, according to the report.

The Hornets are in dire need of some kind of boost, considering how they’ve been playing recently. They’ve lost four of their last five matches, and picked up red cards in three of those.

Watford may consider taking a risk on Walcott, despite the forward’s limited game time this season, but there’s no guarantee he reciprocates such interest.

The former Southampton man hasn’t started a game in the Premier League so far, with Arsenal saving him for the Europa League, EFL Cup and substitute appearances. Nonetheless, he’s still scored four goals and provided five assists in 13 appearances. That’s far from a bad record.

Considering Walcott is one of the highest earners in the team, it doesn’t make much sense to keep him around if he’s not starting league games. Arsenal would be better off selling to a club like Watford and reinvesting, regardless of transfer fee.

But we’ll see what happens in January. Walcott might be keen to stay until the summer given Watford’s current situation. It’s hard to see him jumping for joy at their reported interest.
